The newly created HEMC Sailing Club is open to all HEMC members for free. If you own a sailboat (or power boat but enjoy the company of sailboats) or enjoy sailing but need access to a boat, please join by sending an e-mail to Veljko Roskar with the following information:

1) Name (as you would like it listed on the roster)

2) Boat type, make, & length (if you own or have access to one)

3) Willing to be a crew member? (Yes/No)

4) Sailing Experience (Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced)

5) Type of sailing you prefer (Cruising, Day Trips, and/or Racing)

6) Contact e-mail address and phone # for use by the club and members listed on the roster

This information will be collected on the HEMC Sailing Club Roster Please use this information to invite other Sailing Club Members to join you when you go sailing.

Additionally, the committee is dedicated to finding discounts on boating related items including, sailboat rental, training, power boat rental, and boat club memberships.

HEMC Sailing Club News

 

If you have completed your ASA 101 certification and would like to advance to the next level (ASA 103/104 Combo Course) this spring, the class date can be chosen based on a group of 3-5 HEMC Sailing Club members.

 

If we get more than 6, we may be able to negotiate an EMHC Club Member discount through the course provider, windwardseaventure.com/sailing-school

 

Basic Coastal Cruising - ASA 103 / Bare Boat Chartering - ASA 104 Combined Course

Departs Kemah for a 3-day, 2-night live aboard course (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)

$699.00 / person. Prerequisite-ASA 101

Sailors completing the course receive a 10% discount on Windward Seaventure bareboat charters for 1 year.

 

Course Description

Students will learn to skipper a sloop-rigged inboard engine sailboat of approximately 40 feet in length during a coastal cruise in moderate to heavy winds and sea conditions. Topics covered are safety and seamanship, docking procedures, intermediate and advanced sail trim, navigation rules, coastal navigation including basic chart plotting and GPS operation, mooring with multiple anchors, weather interpretation, cruising sailboat terminology, boat systems, inboard engine operation, maintenance procedures, dinghy/tender operation and provisioning & galley operations.
